At Australian College of Future Education (ACOFE), we offer the TLI41222 Certificate IV in Motor Vehicle Driver Training, which is recognized by the Department of Transport (DOT) in Western Australia. Upon completing our course, you’ll have the opportunity to work for yourself or any registered driving school in WA. Completing this course allows you to bypass the requirement of reapplying for your instructor’s license every three years through the Department of Transport (DOT).

Our TLI41222 Certificate IV in Motor Vehicle Driver Training is designed for those engaged in driving instructor job roles within the Transport and Logistics Industry. You’ll develop a range of skills, including:

This course requires an initial deposit of $1500. The remaining balance must be paid before the commencement of practical training.

How to Apply

Step 1: The following eligibility requirements listed below must be met.

  • A current Western Australian driver’s licence
  • Minimum of 3 continuous years experience driving the vehicle class you wish to teach
  • Medical fitness standards
  • Police character checks
  • Minimum age of 21 years old

Step 2: Complete the TLI41222 – Certificate IV in Motor Vehicle Driver Training

Step 3: Fill out the “Application for Instructors Licence” form. You can find this form by clicking here.

Step 4: Submit the completed application form to The Department of Transportation along with:

  • Certificate IV in Transport and Logistics (Road Transport Driving Instruction), or equivalent if applicable.
  • National Police Certificate.
  • Character references (if required).
  • Proof of identity documents.
  • Application fee.

Step 5: Complete the theory and practical assessment

NOTE: If you hold a TLI41222 – Certificate IV in Motor Vehicle Driver Training or a similar nationally-recognised certificate, you will be exempted from the Theory and Practical Assessment.

Step 6: Complete a medical check-up designed specifically for driving instructors

NOTE: Your application is unlikely to be accepted if you have:

  • been convicted of any sexual, fraud, financial, violent, drug-related or theft offences
  • a history of driving offences, licence disqualifications or suspensions.
